Hagel's Merit-Based Immigration Bill Still Pro-Amnesty, Pro-Anarchy, Anti-American!

Editorial By Xelan Bonn

WASHINGTON, D.C. - February 21, 2007

U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) recently introduced "The Immigrant Accountability Act of 2007," which would create a merit-based point system to allow illegal aliens to remain in the US and legally become citizens if they pass a series of criteria.

On the surface, this seems like a great idea and step in the right direction until you read the fine print and learn it's really Kennedy McCain repackaged by the pro-anarchist, pro North American Union crowd in Washington.

Although a merit system seems appropriate, it's not really a merit system when nearly everyone qualifies. Secondly, because the criteria and point systems are so vague, few illegal aliens will find themselves on the bus back home, which equates to just another blanket "amnesty" program cleverly packaged in sheep's clothing.

Under the bill, an estimated 12 to 15 million illegal aliens would likely qualify for amnesty and citizenship (of an estimated 25 million). The cost for such an act would be still be prohibitive.

For the sake of argument, let's say 12 million illegal aliens are amnestied. The cost to taxpayers will  be $1.22 trillion over the next 20 years, using the famous OPERATION SAFE AMERICA report's calculation table (version 1, page 147). Given the fact that the Iraq War has cost Americans over $1 trillion and is being financed by China because the US cannot afford the war---adding another $1.22 trillion to the debt places the US is a very vulnerable position with China (who has financed the entire Iraq war the debt and now has the ability to send the US economy into a depression---literally---by simply dumping it bonds!) Adding more debt only increases the economic exposure we have with China.

As irresponsible and incompetent as the money aspect of the Hagel bill is, let's look at the aspect that should upset all Americans who believe in law, order, and the American way of justice and ethics.

Hagel is essentially telling us and the world that it's okay to enter the US illegally, (1 time = misdemeanor, 2 times = felony) and work illegally using fraudulent and forged documents (another felony). What our law maker is really representing is anarchy---the undermining of our laws, morals, ethics, since of justice, and the system which makes civilization work---a system not of dog eat dog, but of rules and laws designed to protect us all from unwanted behavior. "Amnesty" sanctions illegal behavior and encourages more of it.

Plainly, Hagel's bill is saying to all Americans and the world that criminal behavior is not only condoned in the US, but it acceptable and rewarded.

His bill asks for the stiff punishment of a $2,000 fine---wow! That's a powerful deterrent and punishment! Given the fact that marriage scammers charge about $30,000 to $40,000 to marry someone to get them into the US as a citizen, the $2,000 punishment deal is--well--a bargain!

Are we a nation that has given up on ourselves, on our laws, on our law makers, on our prosperity, on our super power status? Have we become so liberal and foolhardy that we now routinely have our own law makers advocating anarchist forms of government---ready to tell the world and Americans that our rule-of-law is no longer valid or important or worthy of our sovereign civilization?

Hagel's blatant attempts to smokescreen his bill as a compromise solution is likened to a "snake oil salesman." It shows the levels as to which select members in the pro-North American Union crowd of lawmakers will stoop in order to ensure the fall of America.

I ditto many of the things I previously wrote about regarding Kennedy's bill here and I hope the skies will open up some day and common sense will once again prevail on Capitol Hill, but for today, I am very embarrassed for my country and all Americans and find myself deeply concerned for our survival as a nation.
