Felony-Immigration / Open Borders / NAU

Part I: New Grassroots Leadership Needed

Commentary by Xelan Bonn, MBA (What follows are my personal opinions and not the official position of the PUA). Feedback: xelanbonn@patriotunion.org

( Part I - Part II - Part III)

Today, hundreds of small organizations push hundreds of confusing messages to the masses, law makers, and the national news media. Individually and collectively, groups have been 100% ineffective in achieving a permanent victory. Yes, they have put on many great defensive actions to stop  the opposition from winning outright, but they have never went after a win themselves.

To date, the cause has defended over 58 attempts by Congress to pass harmful legislation on the issues of felony-immigration and open borders.

And remarkably, this cause is not about immigration, it is about sovereignty, rule-of-law, the Constitution, and the saving of America from mega wealthy transnational corporations bent on not only open borders, but on creating a North American Union - a country void of democracy.

Given that over 5 years of grass roots efforts have been unsuccessful in achieving a permanent victory, when will activists and their supporters finally realize that a new  approach with new leadership is needed if they want a reasonable chance at winning?

To better understand, let's look at a past example that illustrates just how incompetent, in my opinion, our current major group leaders are both individually and collectively.

Last year, when we defeated the anti-American McCain/Kennedy Comprehensive Amnesty, our major group leaders should have immediately used their organizations and their respective political and strategic momentum to launch their own offensive attacks - within months total and permanent victory could have been established. Instead, they missed a golden opportunity and did nothing!

Recall that the political momentum was on our side, the patriot's side (cons), which had over 75% of the public with us. We had just stopped a reckless, and potentially cost-devastating unconstitutional amnesty scam from being implemented by Congress. In fact, the cause and its followers had the strong attention and respect of Congress and the critical political clout needed to establish their own bill and get it enacted.

The winners had the public momentum to pressure Congress and get a more sensible and pro-American bill passed - but they had no idea how to do it, or refused to do it, or both.

On the day of the final amnesty vote, and the days and months leading up to it, there was major action in the camps of the patriots. Major groups like Grassfire, FIRE Coalition, NumbersUSA, FAIR, ALIPAC and others rallied over 1 million unique citizen voter-supporters to the cause while over 300 smaller groups did the same.

Pushed by their groups, concerned citizens faxed, e-mailed, and phoned their leaders and eventually killed a very bad bill that would have rewarded over 12-20 million felony perpetrators with not only an amnesty, but also citizenship, all while allowing in as many as 10 million new (impoverished) legal  immigrants per year thereafter. The cost to support such political tomfoolery would have added so much to the deficit and national debt that the US dollar would have quickly collapsed and we'd be in worse financial times than we are right now.

Having just won a great victory, patriot followers were greatly motivated and energized. The national news media was covering the ordeal from several angles, both pro and con, and mostly favoring the anarchists (pros) like the National Council of La Raza and MALDEF. After the win, the press was actively seeking out major "con" organizations, looking for stories from leaders who, as common sense dictated, should have soon been announcing their full counter-attack plans - but the announcements never came!

There were no major demonstrations mounted to attract the national press and lawmakers to the solutions - in fact, no solution had been penned by any major group. And even though several smaller groups, like the PUA, had bill proposals ready to be adopted and amended by major groups or coalitions, group leaders refused to entertain them and instead applied no demands on Congress and no concrete method for achieving victory. All they could table was a short list of gripes and el their followers to depend on the passive strategy of "attrition" - the basic idea that enforcement of current immigration laws would send felony immigrants home on their own.

Meanwhile, the public's patriotic passions soon cooled off  from excessive idleness. When no major offensive strike was announced or rallied, tens of thousands of followers lost interest and went their own way - the massive counter-offensive that could have easily secured a major victory (by establishing it illegal to pass a future amnesty bill and requiring secure borders, at the very least) was allowed to slip by as our leaders scratched their heads wondering what to do.

Smaller groups contacted the larger groups and asked for the forming of plans and strategies and coalitions and to take the battle to the opposition instead of playing defense, but major group leaders refused to listen or to join forces - instead complaining they needed more funding and telling everyone to rely on a 5-10 year "attrition" play to work - a fatally flawed plan that could never work (Congress was bent on amnesty and never going to give up until they got it).

After the opposition lost on that fated day in Congress, our side quickly displayed its complete leadership incompetence from that point forward and left no doubt of their lack of fitness for duty. For every competent grass roots or political leader knows, when you have your opposition down, finish them off (while they're weak and you're strong). Unfortunately, the major "con" groups meandered without a clue as to what was needed next. They had played defense so long, they never had a clue what an offense was, let alone how to mount one - foolishly never realizing that to win a war, any war, a strong offense is needed.

These major groups unprofessionally offered nothing of substance to advance and win their cause - to establish a permanent victory:

  1. No major coalition was ever formed with all the major groups or the hundreds of smaller groups to condense and solidify their collective public support and volunteer structure, or to take advantage of each group's operational or personnel strengths, or to help each other with their respective weaknesses, or to formulate a proper, constitutional immigration bill that respected law abiding US citizens instead of felony perpetrators and foreign governments, etc.
  2. No local level to national level fund raising effort (applying proven success systems) was ever conducted to get the major groups the funds they needed to grow their operations and ultimately succeed in their battle efforts. Instead, they stuck to online fund raising that had already proven itself inadequate to the task at hand (at least the way they were conducting it).
  3. No grass roots bill to date has ever been crafted on behalf of the major groups and they have never presented such a bill to Congress via fulltime lobbying efforts. Such leadership failures have been displayed generously when groups are not results oriented or have little or no understanding of grass roots change systems.
  4. Yet the opposition was using proven grass roots change systems professionally and effectively. For example, a large part of the McCain/Kennedy bill was originally drafted by the opposition, namely La Raza, a highly skilled, professionally operated grass roots organization.
  5. Meanwhile, our side lacked professional, public relations and news media campaigns to press even their own "attrition" viewpoints. The major groups (with a team of polished spokesperson standing on a consistent change message) never appeared in substantial numbers nationally, even at the local news levels.
  6. Instead, hundreds of con groups proceeded independently, projecting hundreds of different and confusing messages to the public, press, and lawmakers, confusing them and greatly reducing the cause's credibility and clout as time passed. For who could possibly give them what they wanted if nobody knew what they wanted - they didn't even know themselves!
  7. To date, not one major "con" organization or its leader has offered a comprehensive solution and vision that united all groups and followers toward maximizing dwindling, scare resources. They have never been able to communicate their smaller visions to motivate their own groups effectively, let alone get other groups to follow their lead. Instead of a forming into a unified major powerhouse coalition of groups and followers fighting for one larger, unified cause, the cause and its followers dissipated into what is now a quagmire of hundreds of unimportant groups fighting for hundreds of different causes - scattered forces with scattered messages with scattered results.

So again, I must ask:

bullet

Why didn’t one of the major group leaders take up the ball and bring the other major groups together to pool their power and message and lead everyone to a final victory when they had their opponents knocked down and bleeding right after the McCain/Kennedy bill was defeated? when the opposition was weak? And when the patriots had strong public and political momentum still on their side? when they were strong and powerful with the Congress? Where was that last bit of coup de grâce effort needed to easily secure a final victory? why did they let such a magnificent opportunity slip by, if they were so competent?

bullet

Why did the major organization leaders allow their followers to unwind emotionally, relax, then dissipate while allowing the opposition to reconstitute their forces into a ten times stronger force now? A force that now threatens to secure total unconstitutional amnesty once the pro-amnesty-declared Democrats and pro-amnesty president of either party takes office? (We know they have vowed to secure an amnesty bill for 12-20 million felony perpetrator by Spring of 09 because they declared it publicly!)

bullet

Why did our leaders allow our collective political clout with Congress to dissipate? Why have they waited so long to mount a major offensive against politicians and their re-election campaigns of those who stood up for amnesty? Were is their well publicized and coordinated movement to oust such anti-Americans from office or keep new ones from coming into office?

bullet

Even after allowing the McCain/Kennedy momentum to dissipate, where was the course-correction by our major group leaders when they saw political landscapes shifting away from supporting "attrition" and little or no significant level of immigration law enforcement?

bullet

Where was the major counter-offensive strategy and plans and why was it not pushed out to all major groups leaders and the hundreds of smaller group leaders toward gaining their support and progressing the cause more effectively?

bullet

Where was the major, well coordinated attack to pressure Congress into passing an intelligent and constitutional bill that would have permanently ended illegal immigration and gotten the borders secure instead of allowing the issue to fester while the opposition reconstituted itself and Congressional landscapes grew more unwilling to listen to "cons"?

bullet

Where were the major fund raising events to bring in millions of needed dollars to help the cause and to hire full time lobbyists and others?

bullet

Where was the leadership competency in the major groups?

bullet

And most importantly, how can we trust any of the current major group leaders who have so clearly displayed such high levels of individual and collective incompetence, thus far?

bullet

Where is our permanent victory 5 years after the battles began and millions of dollars and volunteer hours later - why wasn't this war won 2 or 3 years ago, let alone 1 year ago - why has it dragged on and on?

The answer is failed leadership.

These questions and issues I speak of come right out of grass roots change system playbooks available to any nonprofit or grass roots organization. They are not my inventions. They are not my ideas. They are proven success formulas long ago established by groups that fought for Civil Rights or Women's Rights and many other cause and won. However, in order to use their proven grass roots change systems and methods, you must first be competent enough as a leader to look for them, study them, and then apply them. And so far, not one major group leader in this cause, on our side, appears to have done that.

Some major groups have done some things well - yes, but no one group has used more than 40% of the tools available and needed to erect a victory - and it clearly shows!

Do not take my word for, research the facts yourself...

The Opposition

After the McCain/Kennedy fiasco, the opposition, particularly La Raza, did the opposite of our major group leaders, they quickly tabled their professionalism and rallied their forces while assessing their oppositional forces. Their wise leadership had their managers and supervisors start assessing what went wrong and what was needed to win the next round of political and grass roots battles.

In contrast, our leaders thought the opposition would simply go away and the issue would resolve itself - such was the magnitude of their utter incompetence and their inability to understand complex political landscapes and how they truly function.

Today, the opposition has fully reconstituted themselves, mapped out a new and much more powerful attack strategy, and dramatically increased their funding ($200 million+) as well as their public supports. They even doubled the number of felony-immigrants* ready to march for their cause. And they have carefully calculated our side's strengths and weaknesses and are intending to exploit them dearly in the next grand battle to come.

The enemy, if nothing else, must be respected and admired for their professionalism and leadership.

US Leadership

Now let's look at the US leadership profile, which is even more dramatically positioned against our cause's success:

bulletThe Democratic Party is standing on a platform of open borders and supporting felony-immigration and amnesty as well as the Security and Prosperity Partnership (which, as we all know, is the precursor to the North American Union).
bulletA significant percentage of House and Senate Republicans now openly stand with the Democrats on these issues.
bulletPolitical pundits are expecting the Democrats to take full vote control of the House and Senate in the coming elections (which means any bill they want passed will likely get passed).
bulletAnd we have two presidential candidates who are on record as pro-amnesty and pro-SPP.
bulletA comprehensive pro-amnesty bill is quietly being drafted in anticipation of a major anarchist assault in the Winter, but most likely by the 09 Spring, once the new president takes office.
bulletTo work in concert with the bill initiative, a massive, $100 million public relations campaign with television, radio, and Net ads is currently being constructed by the Mexican government with the aid and assistance of allies in the US (for amnesty is seen as a major stepping stone toward building the North American Union, so many mega, transnational corporations are quietly lending their financial and professional support to the cause behind the scenes and off the record and radar).
bulletAnd throwing in their weight and support for the coming 111th Congress, many major businesses across the US who are either dependent on slave labor (which can only be filled by keeping an in-exhaustive flow of illegal immigration going) or who are shareholders of such companies, are also pitching donations to the politicians and their campaigns: corporations like McDonalds, Burger King, Walmart, Carlyle Group, Monsanto, and the list goes on...
bulletCongressional leaders (those who lead other members of the Congress from the inside, away from the press) are actively grooming other member to eventually support an amnesty bill after the elections, telling them our groups (cons) combined only represent a fringe element with no substantial voting power - therefore, they are not a threat to their careers - that they should and can easily overlook our next major fax, phone, and e-mail blitz when the bill comes up for vote after the elections. (Most members now agree with this assessment).

It is perhaps noteworthy to mention that Obama not only supports an open borders agenda and much higher immigration, but that he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and currently being mentored by top ranking CFR member, Zbigniew Brzezinski. The CFR is the group actively promoting the NAU formation.

Our Collective Profile - "The Cons"

So where does our side stand right now in our checklist:

bulletAll major groups and coalitions as well as minor groups combined have about $3 million available for activism projects (some groups have more money but cannot use it for activism). Most groups will not share.
bulletAll told, there are less than 350 groups nation wide with a combined total (allowing for overlaps) of less than 2 million voter-supporters, and of that number, the ranks are actually shrinking, not growing (in aggregate). Many more follower will be needed to secure a win (about 5 million more minimum).
bulletEach group is pushing a distinctly different message and nuance for the cause, which confuses the over-all message getting out to the press, Congress, and public and reduces credibility, clout, and effectiveness for all groups.
bulletNot one major group has a leader that can be trusted to lead us to victory - they have all had more than ample time to prove their ability to professionally lead and manage and secure a victory and not one has even come close (see examples detailed above).
bulletThe cause still needs to find one true leader with a vision and the ability to bring all large or major groups, or at least their voter-supporter rosters, together for the bigger struggle and cause, to unify and make many times more powerful their collective yet scarce resources toward achieving greater results.

A strong coalition leader will need to be both professionally qualified and psychologically qualified - someone who can work against insurmountable odds and who is not afraid to take the fight to the opposition and secure total victory applying relentless pressure; a leader highly familiar with grass roots change systems and how to implement them; someone who understands that grass roots change happens in the streets, not in the sheets or online. And someone who understands and can apply professional fund raising systems and methods and operate the organization at a truly professional level.

Out Of Time

Time is short (Jan 09 is the final preparation deadline) and all the solid answers for success have not yet floated to the top.

If we are to succeed ever, we must begin taking the initiative ourselves. We can no longer wait on the major leaders and their groups to miraculously get their act together. And we can not keep searching for a new leader while doing nothing ourselves to close the gaps toward ensuring our collective success comes in time - a leader will be found in time, but for now, we need to proceed without one and start grouping up.

Let's Get Started - Why Wait!

Toward that affect, the PUA has created and donated a coalition shell that can be used by all groups, large and small, to start bringing us all together. It cost nothing to sign your group up and it will be operated democratically by the group members. We urge everyone to sign-up now, and ask questions later, once the group is formed. Professional mangers will come to the group's aid once it has been formed. New funding will also be brought in - funding that can be expected within months, not years.

There is not much time left to constitute a massive coalition and move the fight forward before the Jan 09 deadline gets here so the odds for success may seem remote - but if we do not try, and we are not ready when the mother of all battles comes, we will be slaughtered like sheep. And if we are prepared and we never need that preparation, then so much the better!

Please go to the new, temporary shell website and sign your group up today. Let's make this the largest coalition in US history not for ourselves, but of our children and America!

And please remember, this coalition is not yet officially formed, but with everyone helping just a little, we can make it happen rather quickly and we promise, everyone will be heard. As soon as we get at least 100 groups signed-up or 500,000 voter-supporter pool, we will begin the official assembly process and everyone will be notified accordingly.

In all cases, good luck to us all - we're going to need it!

* Why do you call them felony immigrants? Well, because ICE reported that over 93% of those coming into the US illegally have crossed the border twice, which is a felony the second time (under current law - they were previously warned and still they broke the law). Hence the term, felony-immigration.

Also, be aware that there is a 99.9% statistical probability that all those here illegally have committed at least one felony, whether or not they are a gang members or harden criminals or just someone looking for work. For example, it is a felony to steal someone's ID or Social Security number (identity theft) or use false information to defraud the government, such as showing false IDs to gain federal employment, welfare, etc. . There are many more possibilities for committing a felony in the normal course of being a trespassing or illegal alien (regardless their race, ethnicity, or nationality).
