PUA Position Statement

Note: Currently, Position Statements have been drafted by the PUA Staff as an initial starting point. However, in the future, PUA Position Statements will be created with the direct input of the majority of PUA Card Carrying Members (public voters) and it will reflect the majority opinion. Therefore, your input as a PUA Member can change, often dramatically, the PUA Position Statements in the near and distant future so if you do not see your ideal opinion reflected here, remember, you can work to change it--the PUA is ruled by majority vote.

Briefly: Term limits in Congress and especially the Senate are needed to begin cleaning up the corruption politics-as-usual in Washington. The more entrenched career politicians become, the more dirty tricks they use on each other the less they are willing to work together to solve problems in the best interest of Americans - instead, political maneuvering become more important than problem solving while pandering to special interests and big business the norm instead of the exception. Term limits ensure that a stead flow of fresh minds and spirits are injected into Congress and reduces the ability of the special interest to foster entrenched relationships that lead to corrupt politics and votes against the needs and will of the American people.

The PUA believes that no official should be allowed to spend more than two terms in office, but would prefer that terms be limited to a single term, then a single term resting period, then another single term if so desired. 

The great point is to remove career politicians from the process and replace them with Americans who actually go to Washington to help the American people, not themselves!
