PUA Responds To Question On Safe America Act StatusMay 6, 2008 I am a member of the PUA. I would like to request that you print a current status report on the Safe America Act and its progress in Congress on the home page of the PUA for all the members to read. Thanks. Frederick - De Queen, Arkansas Dear PUA Member, Thank you for your interest and recent inquiry regarding the Safe America Act and its progress in Congress. As you now, lobbying Congress is time consuming and expensive and many aspects come into play as to whether one is successful or not with getting new legislation sponsored and enacted. Many proposals take years in order to make progress, especially proposals that come without campaign financing attached by the lobbyist (campaign donation monies that could otherwise aid the Congressional member to make up their mind on behalf of the lobbyist group). The PUA does not have such a tool at its disposal (like most of K Street) so therefore, we depend on public support and pressure to help Congress move forward. To date, the PUA has made each and every member of Congress aware of the Safe America Act (SAA) (regardless of what they may say publicly), and has not, as yet, found a member willing to step forward and sponsor this critical legislation. However, the lobbying process is very young and we remain extremely hopeful and encouraged. To achieve better success with SAA, we need much more assistance from the public in two forms: 1) significant financial donations to help us pay for costly one-on-one lobbying efforts, and 2) increased public awareness for SAA that directly translates into the public pressuring Congress to adopt SAA. These are two critical aspects on which SAA's ultimate success depends. All PUA members and non-members can help SAA by doing a few key things: 1) help spread the word about SAA in any way possible by getting 7 or more friends or associates involved, and, 2) solicit others to join and donate to the PUA toward aiding SAA's progress. Additionally, all voters are encouraged to contact by mail, fax, phone, and e-mail (use all four methods), as many Congressional members as may be possible toward pressuring them individually to adopt SAA and co-sponsor the bill. The PUA firmly believes that SAA is critical to all Americans and America in helping to preserve our Constitution, sovereignty, Bill of Rights, economy, jobs, national security, and more--that far too many infringements have eroded all of these aspects with great detriment to the average American. We believe SAA is a powerful and needed counter-balancing or corrective measure that will greatly improve America's over-all health and well being from the big picture perspective. We will keep the fight going for SAA as best we can, and we hope many caring and informed Americans will learn and see the benefits in lending us a helping hand. Highest Regards, Xelan Bonn PUA Founder |
