News ReleaseFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Oct 1, 2006 Patriot Union Forms To Override Congress! Patriot Union of America, a citizen’s advocacy, is seeking to build the nation’s largest nonpartisan union of US citizen voters ever formulated in American history. Also known as the acronym PUA, the unique advocacy is taking democracy to a new level by pioneering the first ever Public Initiative Bill (PIB) system that will formulate public bills via encrypted Internet systems and voter surveys.
“Imagine 20 to 60 million Americans sending a position statement or a bill to Congress for law making and the President or Congressional members committing political suicide when they vote against it—that’s the ‘wow factor’ to the 10th power,” said Founder Xelan Bonn. “We’re going to put power back into the hands of the citizenry for the price of a movie ticket and an Internet connection,” he said. “Americans are fed up with government going to the highest special interest bidder and Congress selling out common sense decision making for personal gains!" he said.
The PUA is an open access organization designed to unify as many Americans as possible toward achieving formidable political strength on key, nonpartisan, "common good" issues. The umbrella organization aims to piggy-back its membership off the rolls of existing nonprofit affiliate organizations in order to combine strength to reach over 60 million members strong by 2010.
Citizen advocacy groups from environmentalist to Independents, Democrat and Republicans to hundreds of major and special interests groups will have the ability to access the PUA membership and work in concert toward providing "common good" solutions that the PUA membership can approve and support toward better federal level lawmaking.
Free memberships are made available to the indigent so that all Americans can participate in their future government, said organizers.
"We have a massive brain-trust in America and we're not using it to make our government better," said Bonn. "Many issues are simply nonpartisan and for the common good, like healthcare, domestic terrorism, open borders, and immigration and we can affect powerful change if we all stand together---the PUA is the people's vehicle but Americans have to be willing to drive it,” he said. “Imagine the greatest lobbying group in US history—the American people—that's a switch from special interests!”
PUA members will be asked to spend about 10 minutes a month on the encrypted Internet system answering short surveys or voting that will be used to formulate everything from issue focus to strategy and proposed solutions. “We’re going to put the Internet to work and rebuild this sick government machine into the world’s finest democracy in human history—the corrupt political model of yesteryear has seen it’s last days,” said Bonn.
A planned children's section on the organization's Web site will encourage family participation in the political process and allow kids to vote for both fun and potential law making issues important to America's youth. A planned history and learning section will help kids and teachers alike learn about or teach the importance of America's past and better plan our collective future.
Available through the Patriot Society or other affiliates, PUA annual memberships are $12 for US citizens eligible to vote and $4 for non-eligible voters, whether registered or not. A portion of PUA membership fees go to help the sponsoring affiliate organization.
"The PUA is a cutting-edge tool whose time has come---we're reinventing democracy and installing the power of the American vote into the Congressional Hall---now Americans will be the 800 pound gorilla in the room instead of special interests---that's history in the making and very exciting," said Bonn.
The PUA officially got started on July 4th, 2006 and is preparing for its formalization and national roll-up during the 2007 year in preparations of the 2008 elections. Organizers are looking to reach their 10 million member goal by before the 2008 elections.
"If we fail, it's because Americans really don't want better government, or more choices---our current law making system is over 225 years old and it's time we put a modern twist on it and free up some of the power Congress has been hording," said Bonn. "I still believe America is worth our best efforts and if Americans won't invest $12 a year and 5 to 10 minutes a month toward making their country and future better, then I think that tells us where our country is headed," said Bonn. "The PUA and PIB are giving Americans a river of opportunity to make all of our future's better, but if Americans refuse to drink the freedom waters, then all is lost anyway---but I have faith in the American liberty and protection spirit and when Americans finally decide to do something and fight big corrupt government and special interests or stand up against our foreign enemies, there is no force on earth that can stop them---we are winners and I still believe in us!"
