News ReleaseFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Feb 19, 2007PUA Tackles Social Security Woes - New Plan Promises Impossible! Patriot Union of America (PUA), a citizen’s advocacy seeking to build the nation’s largest nonpartisan union of US citizen voters and pioneering home to a planned national referendum system, announced ambitious plans to tackle the Social Security system and provide law makers with alternative solutions.
"We stumbled onto some little known facts and resources that we now firmly believe could be used to not only make Social Security solvent within 5 years, but would ensure rising benefits for future generations---all without raising personal income taxes," said President and Founder Xelan Bonn. "This is a potential lifesaver for the American people!"
The organization is preparing plans to launch a formal study on the initiative and has begun talks to commission federal policy advisor and think tank Patriot Society to conduct the research study beginning about September of 2007, said organizers.
"We have a distinct advantage over Capitol Hill in formulating new solutions and laws for our nation's citizens---our goal is to solve problems in a common sense approach from the taxpayer's perspective," said Bonn. "Capitol Hill, on the hand, usually formulates solutions based on internal political agendas and a system of legalized graft known as special interest lobbying, which we are not subject to," he said.
The project study has been deemed PIB-6700: Comprehensive Social Security Improvements and will examine a vast top to bottom redesign of the system and incorporate innovative funding sources that have never been used before under this system.
"Privatization plans are just another way to shift taxes away from helping US citizens so politicians can use those funds on pork barrel and other non-essentials and shirk their responsibilities to the nation's workers and retirees," said Bonn. "Americans need to stand firm and demand the best for themselves and their families and we believe that PIB-6700 will stand alone as the stellar choice to not only recover this dying system, but to make it more robust for future generations---that's not something Congress is going to be interested in." he said.
The organization is projecting a substantial PIB or Public Initiative Bill on Social Security Reform to be publicly available in 2008 for Congressional review and will be looking for key member sponsorship.
